The wiper you choose decides how much lint you leave behind. Phil Industries therefore supplies sealed-edge polyester, polyester/cellulose, microfibre and pre-saturated IPA wipers in Singapore, and we match each one to your ISO class and hold it ex-stock.

🧵 Match the wiper to your ISO class
| Material | ISO class | Typical use | Lead time |
|---|---|---|---|
| 100% polyester (sealed-edge) | ISO 5 / ISO 6 | Semiconductor, optics | Ex-stock |
| Knitted polyester | ISO 5 / ISO 6 | Displays, medical | Ex-stock |
| Polyester/cellulose blend | ISO 7 / ISO 8 | General cleanroom, spill control | Ex-stock |
| Microfibre | ISO 5 / ISO 6 | Sub-micron particle pickup | 1–3 days |
| Pre-saturated 70% IPA | ISO 5 to ISO 8 | Surface disinfection | Ex-stock |
📊 Particle release by edge finish
Relative lint and particle shedding
| Cut edge | Highest |
|---|---|
| Laser-cut edge | Low |
| Sealed edge | Lowest |
Use this as an indicative guide only. Particle release is measured to IEST-RP-CC004 — ask us for the test data on a specific wiper.
✂️ Sealed edge or laser cut?
- Sealed edge — edges fused so no fibre escapes. Specify for ISO 5 and critical optics.
- Laser cut — clean edge at lower cost. Good for ISO 6 and general precision work.
- Cut edge — economical, but keep it out of critical zones.
🧪 Polyester or polyester/cellulose?
Polyester sheds least and resists solvents, so it belongs in the critical zone. The cellulose blend absorbs far more liquid at lower cost, which suits ISO 7 and 8 spill work and gowning areas.

❓ Common questions
Are pre-saturated IPA wipers suitable for semiconductor cleanrooms?
Yes, provided the substrate is polyester and the pack stays sealed. Check IPA concentration and lot traceability against your own SOP first.
How are wipers tested for particle release?
Labs test them to IEST-RP-CC004, and we supply the data for a given wiper on request.
Are cleanroom wipes, polyester wipes and lint-free cloths the same thing?
People use the names interchangeably. What matters instead is the substrate, the edge finish and the ISO class it holds.
When should I vacuum instead of wipe?
Wiping simply redistributes heavy dry debris. Vacuum first, therefore, with an ESD-safe cleanroom vacuum, then wipe to finish.
