Ordinary office paper sheds thousands of cellulose fibres every time someone writes on it or tears a sheet, so it has no place inside a controlled zone. Frequently asked questions
What is cleanroom paper?
It is paper engineered to release minimal particles, fibres and ionic residues when handled, written on or torn. Because standard cellulose paper sheds thousands of particles per sheet, latex-coated bond is the usual choice for ISO Class 6–8 use. Synthetic grades go further: they are fully plastic (PE or PP) with zero cellulose fibre, tear-resistant and waterproof, so they suit ISO Class 4–5 and wet processing areas.
Can it be printed on a regular laser printer?
Yes. Latex-coated cleanroom bond runs through standard laser and inkjet printers without modification. However, synthetic PE paper is laser-printable only on low-fuser-temperature printers, and inkjet requires special ink. We supply a media-compatibility chart on request.
Do I need sterile cleanroom paper?
Only for aseptic pharmaceutical, biologics and medical-device documentation inside ISO Class 4–5 zones. In contrast, electronics, semiconductor and most ISO Class 6–8 cleanrooms run fine on non-sterile stock, which also costs less.
How is it packaged?
Double-bagged in low-particulate polyethylene with a tamper-evident seal, then over-wrapped for shipment. Therefore the inner bag is opened only inside the cleanroom airlock.

Is paper ESD safe?
Plain office paper is not ESD safe. It charges less than plastic because it absorbs moisture, but its behaviour swings with humidity, so auditors treat it as an uncontrolled material. Cleanroom ESD paper solves this because the manufacturer adds a dissipative treatment, which keeps the sheet stable at bench level. In short, use rated cleanroom paper inside the EPA and keep ordinary paper outside it.
