Description
ESDpro AF0086FS is a fluid-repellent ESD fabric for cleanroom coveralls that see liquids: the same 98% polyester / 2% conductive-filament 5 mm grid cloth as our standard coverall fabric, at 115 gsm, with a repellent finish that makes water-based splashes bead and run off. Phil Industries supplies it by the roll from Ubi, Singapore, in white with other colours to order.
Why add a repellent finish to an ESD cloth
Wet-bench, CMP, plating and pharmaceutical filling areas all put liquid on the operator. A standard coverall soaks it up, which is uncomfortable and carries the liquid to the next workstation. The finish on AF0086FS keeps water-based splashes on the surface long enough to shake or wipe off, while the 5 mm conductive grid beneath keeps the garment static dissipative. As a result, one garment covers both the ESD and the splash requirement.
At 115 gsm the fabric stays light and breathable, and it is fully washable on cleanroom laundry cycles. In addition, the conductive filament is woven in, so only the finish, not the anti-static property, needs to be considered when setting the laundry programme.

Applications
AF0086FS is specified for coveralls and frocks in semiconductor wet-process bays, PCB plating lines, pharmaceutical and biotech filling suites, and laboratories where staff handle aqueous reagents. For dry areas the standard AF0080 grid cloth without the finish is the economical choice.
Frequently asked questions
Is the repellent finish permanent?
It is durable but not indefinite: repellency declines over many wash cycles, and fabric softeners strip it faster. Follow a cleanroom laundry programme without softener and re-test repellency as part of garment inspection.
Does the finish affect static performance?
No. The conductive filament is woven into the cloth beneath the finish, and the fabric remains in the dissipative range. Garments can be qualified under ANSI/ESD STM2.1 or IEC 61340-4-9 in the normal way.
Is it chemical-resistant?
It repels water-based splashes. It is not a chemical-protective fabric and should not be used as the only barrier against solvents or acids; use appropriate aprons or chemical PPE over it.
