Description
This grey conductive thread is the sewing thread for static-control garments and ESD footwear: a blend of stainless-steel and polyester fibre, wound on 3,000-yard rolls in 150D/2 for lockstitch and 150D/3 where a heavier seam is needed. Why seams need conductive thread
An ESD garment or shoe is only as good as its seams. Plain polyester thread insulates each panel from the next, so a point-to-point test under ANSI/ESD STM2.1 fails across the seam even when the cloth itself is fine. Conductive thread fixes that, because the stainless-steel fibre carries charge across every stitch line. As a result, the finished item reads as one continuous dissipative surface.
The 150D/2 count runs on standard lockstitch and overlock machines, while 150D/3 gives a stronger seam for footwear uppers and heavy coveralls. In addition, the 3,000-yard roll suits production lines that would run through a 1 kg cone in days.
