Description
ESDpro AF0118 is a grey ESD collar fabric: a rib knit of 60% polyester and 30% cotton with a full 10% carbon fibre, made for the collars and cuffs of ESD T-shirts and polo shirts. The cotton content gives the collar a soft hand against the neck, and the carbon keeps it at 10⁶ to 10⁷ Ω. Phil Industries supplies it by the roll from Ubi, Singapore.
Why a cotton blend for collars
A polo collar sits against the skin all shift, so a pure polyester rib can feel harsh. Adding 30% cotton softens it and absorbs sweat. However, cotton conducts poorly, so AF0118 carries 10% carbon to keep the collar at the conductive end of the dissipative range. As a result, the trim never becomes the weak point of an ESD polo.
The rib holds a collar shape and recovers after laundering, and grey blends with most ESD shirt colours. In addition, the same cloth works as a cuff on cotton-rich ESD polos and T-shirts.

Frequently asked questions
Why 10% carbon when the shirt body has less?
A collar is small and handled constantly, and cotton conducts poorly, so it needs more conductive yarn than the body to stay inside the dissipative range.
Which shirt fabrics does it pair with?
C2080 and C2069 CVC piques, and the C2062 or AF0634 polyester knits. Ask for matched swatches so the grey collar sits well with the body colour.
How should it be laundered?
On the same cycle as the shirt, without fabric softener. The carbon is knitted in, so the property is permanent.
