Description
ESDpro C2060-H is a grey heavyweight ESD fabric: a 235 gsm polyester-cotton blend, 65/34, with a 1% carbon stripe every 10 mm. It is the cloth for ESD coats and lab gowns that see daily wear and hard laundering, where a light coverall twill would wear through in months. Phil Industries supplies it by the roll from Ubi, Singapore.
Why a 235 gsm cotton blend
A lab coat is worn, washed and worn again far more often than a cleanroom coverall. The cotton in C2060-H makes the coat comfortable and absorbent, and the 235 gsm weight gives it the body to resist abrasion at the cuffs, pockets and hem. Meanwhile, the carbon stripe keeps the cloth static dissipative, so the coat remains part of the ESD programme.
The wider 10 mm stripe pitch suits a heavier cloth and keeps the grey coat looking plain rather than pin-striped. In addition, the blend takes dye well, so custom colours are available on volume orders.

Frequently asked questions
Is a cotton blend acceptable for an ESD coat?
Yes, in EPAs and Class 1000 to 10000 areas. Cotton sheds more fibre than polyester, so for tighter cleanroom classes choose a 100% polyester cloth.
Can coats made from it pass a garment test?
Yes. The cloth is static dissipative, so coats qualify when you test them to ANSI/ESD STM2.1 or IEC 61340-4-9. Test the finished coat as made.
How should it be laundered?
As polyester-cotton workwear on an industrial cycle, without fabric softener. The carbon stripe is woven in, so the property is permanent.
