Description
ESDpro AF0114 is a knitted ESD coverall fabric: 96% polyester with a 4% carbon-fibre grid, 162 gsm and 150 cm wide. Unlike the woven twills used for most coveralls, this is a knit, so the garment moves with the operator and breathes through a long shift. Phil Industries supplies it by the roll from Ubi, Singapore, in several colours.
Why a knitted coverall cloth
A woven coverall is stiff and traps heat. A knit stretches, so operators who bend, reach and kneel all day find it far more comfortable, and the 162 gsm weight keeps it opaque and durable. Because the 4% carbon grid runs through the knit in both directions, the fabric measures 10⁶ to 10⁹ Ω, so the coverall stays inside the dissipative range as it stretches.
The polyester knit sheds little lint and launders without shrinking. In addition, the 150 cm width and multicolour options let a plant colour-code coveralls by area on a single cloth specification.

Frequently asked questions
Does a knit shed more particles than a woven?
A polyester knit sheds very little, and AF0114 suits Class 1000 to 10000 rooms. For Class 100 rooms, discuss the garment system with us; a woven twill may be the safer choice.
Can garments in this fabric pass an ESD audit?
Yes. The cloth sits in the dissipative range, so coveralls made from it qualify when you test them to ANSI/ESD STM2.1 or IEC 61340-4-9. Test the finished garment as made.
How should it be laundered?
As polyester knitwear on a cleanroom laundry cycle, without fabric softener. The carbon is knitted in, so the property is permanent.
