Description
ESDpro AF0101 is an anti-static cotton fabric: 98% cotton with a 2% carbon stripe every 1 cm, woven at 125 to 130 gsm and 150 cm wide, in red or yellow. It is the cloth for ESD workwear in EPAs where operators want the feel of a cotton shirt rather than polyester. Phil Industries supplies it by the roll from Ubi, Singapore, with 5 mm and 6 mm stripe pitches to order.
Why a cotton cloth for ESD workwear
Polyester ESD fabrics are right for cleanrooms, but on a warm assembly floor a cotton shirt is simply more comfortable, and operators keep it on. AF0101 gives that comfort while the carbon stripe holds the cloth at 10⁶ to 10⁸ Ω with a friction charge under 200 V. Because the stripe runs the full roll length, it survives cutting and sewing on shirt and jacket panels.
The 40S/2 × 32S/1 yarn gives a stable, soft weave that launders well, and the 150 cm width cuts shirts and jackets efficiently. In addition, red and yellow are the usual colour codes for supervisors and visitors, so the garment identifies the wearer across the floor.

Applications
Electronics assembly, SMT, test and repair lines use AF0101 for ESD shirts, jackets and colour-coded supervisor or visitor workwear in EPAs. It is not a cleanroom cloth; cotton lints, so for classified rooms use our polyester stripe and grid fabrics.
Frequently asked questions
Is a cotton fabric acceptable in an ESD programme?
Yes, in EPAs. The carbon stripe keeps AF0101 in the dissipative range, so garments qualify when you test them to ANSI/ESD STM2.1 or IEC 61340-4-9. Keep it out of classified cleanrooms because cotton sheds fibre.
Why a 1 cm stripe?
A wider pitch suits a heavier cotton weave and gives a plainer look. If your specification calls for a finer pitch, we supply the same cloth with 5 mm or 6 mm stripes to order.
How should it be laundered?
As cotton workwear on an industrial cycle, without fabric softener. The carbon is woven in, so the property does not wash out.
