ESD-safe tools are screwdrivers, tweezers, pliers, cutters, soldering equipment and air ionisers manufactured with conductive or dissipative materials so they do not generate or hold electrostatic charge while handling sensitive electronics and semiconductors. Phil Industries supplies 200+ ESD-safe tool SKUs in Singapore — ceramic and stainless-steel tweezers, ESD screwdrivers, anti-static cutters, dissipative work mats, ESD-safe soldering irons and ionising air blowers — with ex-stock availability and same-day pickup. Last updated: 17 May 2026.
All tools are sourced from manufacturers whose products meet IEC 61340-5-1, ANSI/ESD S20.20 and tool-handle resistivity requirements (10⁶–10⁹ Ω) where applicable. We supply Singapore semiconductor fabs, EMS contract manufacturers, medical device OEMs and rework / repair labs.
ESD-Safe Tool Range
- ESD tweezers — anti-acid stainless-steel and ceramic-tipped tweezers (Type 2A, 2AB, 3C, 5, AA-SA) for SMD handling, wafer inspection and watch/medical assembly.
- ESD screwdrivers — dissipative handles (yellow/black) with Phillips, slotted, Torx and hex tips for assembly and rework.
- ESD pliers, cutters and crimpers — conductive handles for PCB rework, lead trimming and connector assembly.
- Soldering irons and stations (ESD-safe) — grounded tips, dissipative housings and zero-volts switching for solder rework.
- Ionising air blowers, bars and guns — desktop, overhead and handheld ionisers to neutralise charge on insulators that cannot be grounded.
- ESD work mats and bench accessories — two-layer dissipative mats, grounding cords and bench banana jacks.
- Electronics inspection tools — magnifiers, microscopes and lighting with ESD-safe housings.

Frequently Asked Questions — ESD-Safe Tools
Why can’t I use a regular screwdriver or tweezer on ESD-sensitive devices?
A standard tool with a plastic handle can hold thousands of volts of triboelectric charge that discharges through the workpiece on contact. ESD-safe tools have dissipative or conductive handles (typically 10⁶–10⁹ Ω) that bleed charge to the grounded work surface and operator, preventing damaging ESD events on the component.
How does an ionising air blower neutralise static?
An ioniser uses high-voltage corona discharge to generate balanced positive and negative ions in the airstream. When the ions reach a charged insulator, opposite-polarity ions are attracted to the surface, neutralising the charge. Ionisers are essential for ESD control on items that cannot be grounded (plastics, glass, packaging).
What is the difference between Type 2A and Type 3C tweezers?
Type 2A tweezers have straight, very fine points for general SMD picking. Type 3C have sharp, curved points for tight assemblies. Type 5 are even finer for sub-millimetre components. ESD-safe versions are typically marked with a coloured handle coating and have validated handle resistivity.
