An ESD IC tray is an anti-static plastic tray with a grid of moulded pockets that hold IC chips, memory modules and small electronic components securely during storage, handling and line turnover. The black anti-static body dissipates static charge while the grid keeps fragile leads and contacts protected from physical damage.

Loose ICs are exposed to two risks at once: static discharge and bent or damaged leads.
